How to find us

Psychotherapy at its essence is a conversation between client and therapist for the purpose of achieving the client's goals.  For this endeavor to be fruitful, it needs to take place within a safe, secure and trusting environment.  I strive to achieve this with you, my client by utilizing my advanced clinical training and years of experience in treating a wide range of presenting problems.  Treatment will be tailored to your individual needs in a pragmatic and solution oriented way.

Since graduating in 1977 with a Master's Degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, I have been providing therapy to children, adolescents, couples, families and individuals. I received two years of post graduate training at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. I have been employed in private and public agencies as a therapist and clinical supervisor.  I have maintained my private practice since 1980. 40% of my practice is working with families with children and adolescents, 30% working with couples and 30% treating individuals.

I am a participating provider with all the major insurance carriers. My office hours are in the evening, Monday through Thursday as well as on Saturday. My professional memberships are with the National Association of Social Workers and I am a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. To schedule an appointment, or ask any questions, I can be reached at 301-963-6050. I can also be contacted via e-mail at mjmfamilytherapy@gmail.com
